What we know right now

Monday morning starts off mainly dry and cloudy. A few flurries are possible Monday during the day, but the better snow chance is Monday night into Tuesday morning.  The key timing for snow is Monday between 7 p.m. – Tuesday 11 a.m.   Southern Maryland could start as snow then end with a wintry mix early Tuesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Monday into Tuesday morning for the entire area.

We will wake up to snow in the DMV Tuesday morning.   Snow should taper off by between late morning and early afternoon. The winter weather will move out in most areas after 1 p.m.   Snow totals will fall in the neighborhood of a trace to 3 inches.

Low pressure and a cold front swing by the area Friday, giving us another chance for snow, or snow and rain in some spots.

Plan on snow with light accumulations Monday night into Tuesday morning.  This may slow down the morning commute.   Check back for updates about Friday’s snow chances.   GFS model favors higher snow amounts in the next 7 days combined.

It’s also worth noting how the DMV hasn’t seen appreciable snowfall in some time.

Last time 1”/+ of snow occurred at:

Reagan National Airport (DCA) – 2.6” (January 16, 2022)
Dulles Airport – 3.5” (March 12, 2022)
BWI Marshall Airport – 1.0” (January 28, 2022)
