What condition in Florida make storms act like this?

Being from Missouri I am used to storms rolling in and moving on. When we visit Florida though storms will sit and regenerate over one area like this video show. Almost like watching a plume of smoke being blown from a fire on radar. What causes this specific behavior as opposed to what we see in the Midwest?
