Tropical Cyclone Activity in Eastern Atlantic Ocean : meteorology

1 min read

I’m looking into the reason why no Tropical Cyclones devellop or go through, in the Eastern Region of the Atlantic Ocean, specifically near the Canary Islands. Through an observation of cyclone trajectory maps between 1850-2021, I have observed that almost no Cyclones go through that area, except in really rare cases, and that this tendency is increassing with the years.

Wich makes me question myself on why this happens, and what can be the reasons why it’s increassing in the recent years. My first aproach has been to observe shear wind in this area and compare it’s values in diferent conditions, and it’s relation with ENSO.

Has anyone got any idea on what other values i could research? Or how to aproach this problem?
