Tracking showers and rain over the weekend

2 min read

The WUSA9 Weather Watch team is tracking wet weather that may put a damper on your weekend.

Key Points:

While it won’t be a washout of a weekend, it won’t be great Saturday or Sunday for outdoor plans. When all is said and done, all of the showers will only amount to .50″ – 1.0″. It will be more of a gloomy weekend than anything.

Saturday 12 a.m.
Showers will begin pushing east of I-81 shortly after dinner time Friday. Most of the wet weather will stay well west of metro D.C. until after midnight.

Saturday 6 a.m.
By Saturday morning, off and on light rain and drizzle will have overspread the region.

Saturday 12 p.m.
There will be some dry periods between showers with overcast skies and chilly temperatures. Dress for the 50s for outdoor plans Saturday.

Saturday 6 p.m.
If you’re trying to fire up the grill Saturday night or make a dinner reservation outside, plan on damp conditions with more light showers and areas of drizzle.

Sunday 12 a.m.
Late Saturday night a period of heavier and steadier rain will roll through. An embedded thunderstorm isn’t out of the question.

Sunday 6 a.m.
Most of the moderate to occasionally heavy rain will already be east of I-95 by 8 a.m. Saturday with a few lingering showers throughout the late morning and early afternoon.

How Much Rain?

Despite it seeming like a very wet weekend, all of the showers and drizzle won’t amount to much. We are forecasting .50 – 1.0″ of rain when all is said and done.
