Heavy rain and strong wind tonight into tomorrow morning and again on New Year’s Day…

A strong cold front and disturbance are approaching our area, causing warm and moist air to surge northward into our area today, with highs reaching the 50’s to low 60’s. Rain will develop from west to east today, starting this morning in East Central and Northeastern PA, this evening in Central and Northern NJ, Southeastern NY State, and in Fairfield County, CT, and toni9ght in NYC and on Long Island. The rain will become heavy at times at night and it will also become very windy, with gusts of up to 55 mph possible inland and 65 mph along the coast and on Long Island. 

Christmas Day the rain will end in the morning from west to east, then it will become colder, with highs early in the morning in the 50’s to low 60’s, then dropping to the mid 30’s to mid 40’s in the afternoon. There could be some flooding early in the morning and some power outages will be possible from the strong wind. It will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry at night.

Saturday and Sunday will then be nice, but cold with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s Saturday, rising to the mid to upper 30’s Sunday.

Monday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower as a weak disturbance and then a cold front pass through our area. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Tuesday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower or flurry in the morning. Highs will be in the mid 20’s to mid 30’s.

Wednesday will be variably cloudy with highs in the mid 30’s to low 40’s.

New Year’s Eve, rain will be likely, possibly heavy at times, as a strong cold front and disturbance approach from the west. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to low 50’s.

New Year’s Day the rain will end in the morning, followed by clearing. Highs will be in the 40’s to low 50’s.

Next Saturday, January 2nd, is then looking nice with highs in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Next Sunday, January 3rd, there will be a chance of rain or snow as a disturbance may pass through our area. Highs will be in the mid 30’s to mid 40’s.

Next Monday, January 4th, through next Wednesday, January 6th, are then looking nice with highs in the 30’s to low 40’s next Monday and the mid 30’s to low 40’s next Tuesday and Wednesday.
