This storm turned into more of an ice event for most us, much like the short-range American model was showing. The short-range American model has been doing very well recently and better than the European model with ice versus snow events.

And then we will have to watch as a strong disturbance will approach from the west this weekend, possibly turning into a Nor’easter near the Middle Atlantic Coast. It is currently appearing as if this disturbance could slow down and nearly stall near the Middle Atlantic Coast Monday and Tuesday, bringing the potential for heavy snow to a large part of the Middle Atlantic and Northeast. Of course this is a long way out, but below is the latest European Model ensemble mean snowfall map for this weekend into Monday and next Tuesday. The map shows the track of the snow through the Central United States and then through the Middle Atlantic and into the Northeast next Monday and Tuesday. The snow on this map in our area is next Monday and Tuesday. The ensemble mean is an average of the European model run 50 different ways for various conditions.
