WASHINGTON — A scary chill has arrived just in time for Halloween!
After a week of very warm October weather, cooler temperatures are taking over as we close out the month. As kids are heading out to trick-or-treat Tuesday, they’ll want to add a few layers to their costume.
Temperatures will be falling from the low 50s into the low 40s shortly after the sun sets at 6:09 p.m.
It may be chilly, but we’ve seen scarier Halloween forecasts in the past!
Climate Central analyzed October minimum temperatures from 1970-2022 from the Applied Climate Information System, and found that October nights have warmed by 3.3 degrees Fahrenheit since 1970. Warming fall temperatures can extend allergy season and delay leaves turning colors.
Across the United States, October nights have warmed by 2.2 degrees Fahrenheit since 1970.
