Snowy Start to Winter Restaurant Week in D.C.

Many have reservations at hot restaurants in D.C. and willing to brave the cold for restaurant week deals.

WASHINGTON — DC Restaurant Week kicked off Monday, and more than 300 restaurants across D.C. can expect a number of foodies to come rushing into their dining rooms.

Colder temps may have a grip on the nation’s capital, but many have reservations at hot restaurants in D.C. and are hoping to snag a three course meal for as little as $35.

“Restaurant week is worth getting out of the house and worth getting out in whatever weather to explore and enjoy this wonderful city,” said J.R. Cummings, a customer at Filomena Restaurant.

Weather experts say, you may want to check the weather before you confirm that reservation.

“We scrutinized the weather report and decided it was something we could do,” said Melissa Schneider from Baltimore, Maryland.

Regardless, all hands are on deck in the kitchen. At Filomena Restaurant, a staple in Georgetown, wait staff are still preparing for a full house.

“If they can’t come in today, I know they will come in sometime this week,” says Dino Jensen, Executive Director at Filomena.

Some spots can get up to three inches of snow, so weather experts say it’s good to stay prepared and plan ahead.

If the weather’s not in your favor – remember this: if you call ahead, some restaurants will waive those cancellation fees.

You can catch deals on your lunch and dinner for DC Restaurant Week from Jan. 15-21.
