Nice Sunny Chilly Day No Major Storms in the Week Ahead

There are times when there really isn’t much other than a stretch of nice quiet calm weather and indeed we are on such a streak now. This is the 7th consecutive day of no rain or snow and we are likely to run the streak out to at least 11 days and possibly longer if it turns out we don’t see any rain showers on Friday. That is the next chance we have for any precipitation and even here we are talking brief and minimal. The satellite shows it nice and sunny from New England to the Mid Atlantic States with some clouds around the Great Lakes. The radars are all nice and quiet. Temperatures this afternoon will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. Enjoy the day.

Given that we are in a form of cruise control here we can look at tonight being a clear night for the most part with lows in the 20s to near 30. Monday will be partly to mostly sunny and chilly but reasonable with highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s.

We do have a winter storm going on today and tonight from Texas into Louisiana and Arkansas as low pressure moves across the the Western Gulf Coast to the Central Gulf states. However that storm weakens as it moves east and there is basically nothing left to it as crosses the southeast and then out to sea in the Atlantic. This leaves us high and dry Tuesday through Thursday with highs reaching into the 40s each day and nights in the 20s and low 30s. Each day will feature some sunshine.

We do have a cold front moving through on Friday with a few showers as it goes by and then it is back to dry and colder weather into next weekend. Models are hinting at something for early in the week of January 18th but as always the uncertainty is large. We will watch and see how models handle this later today.
