New Tornado Watch until 8 a.m. for Southeastern Portions of Central Alabama; New Severe Thunderstorm Warning As Well : The Alabama Weather Blog

A new tornado watch has been issued to the east of the current watches that will cover the remainder of the overnight until 8 a.m. CST.

Here is the current area covered by tornado watches:

Severe thunderstorm warning continues for eastern Alabama. Most dangerous part of the storm is now extending from south of Ragland to Riverside, approaching Lincoln into northern Talladega County.

New warning just extended into Talladega, Chilton, Shelby and Coosa Counties. Here is the text of the warning:

The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for…
Talladega County in east central Alabama…
Northeastern Chilton County in central Alabama…
Southeastern Shelby County in central Alabama…
Northwestern Coosa County in east central Alabama…
* Until 145 AM CST.
* At 102 AM CST, severe thunderstorms were located along a line
extending from near Westover to near Talladega Springs to near Gap
Of The Mountain, moving northeast at 65 mph.
HAZARD…60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
SOURCE…Radar indicated.
IMPACT…Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

Oxford, Talladega, Sylacauga, Pell City, Clanton, Childersburg,
Columbiana, Jemison, Wilsonville, Talladega Springs, Stewartville,
Weogufka, Lincoln, Vincent, Thorsby, Harpersville, Munford,
Westover, Oak Grove, and Waldo.
