New Tornado Watch for A Large Part of Alabama Until 2 a.m.

1 min read

A new tornado watch is now in effect until 2 a.m. for a large part of Northeast, Central, and Southwest Alabama.

Here are all the counties in all the tornadoes watches at this hour along the radar and warnings…

A tornado warning is in effect in South Central Mississippi for Clarke, Lauderdale, Jasper, and Newton Counties. This is for a storm tracking along I-20 near Newton heading toward Meridian. The tornadic part is south of the interstate and moving east. The possible tornado will pass south of Meridian and could move into Choctaw County or perhaps southern Sumter County around 11:30 p.m.

There were two reports of possible tornadoes in Simpson County around 9:15-9:30 p.m.

The main threat now is any tornadoes that can form within mesovortices along the line of thunderstorms shown on the radar.

I will be tracking the storms through the overnight hours so check back for regular updates.
