Is there a name for the phenomenom where gigantic clouds form above the ocean before a hurricane or big storm? (Examples in text!)

Hello! Hope you're doing good.

Thank you very much for giving my post your time. I've always loved the image of extremely overcast weather in maritine zones just before a storm hits, even more if there's still some sunlight coming through. There's something about the deep blues, greys, purples and yellows that I find very inspiring. Is there a name (as complex or scientific as it can be) for said event? If not, how would you describe it in the least amount of words possible?
