There was a Red Flag Warning on Wednesday due to the wind.

PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. — A brush fire forced the closure of Route 1 in Prince William County on Wednesday afternoon.

Very little is known, but both northbound and southbound traffic has halted between Joplin Road and Russell Road. There is no word on how long the closure could last at this time.

Prince William County Fire and Rescue told WUSA9 that they are dealing with multiple fires in their region. All of them, we’re told, are under control.

Trains have also been affected.

Virginia Railway Express said, “Fredericksburg Line trains will continue to hold due to fire department activity south of Quantico station. Lengthy delays are expected. Fredericksburg Line VRE passengers can board an OmniRide bus today by showing their VRE ticket.”

There was a Red Flag Warning on Wednesday due to the wind.

No other details have been released.
