Band-pass filters to detect cyclones : meteorology

Hello.

I was reading about Band-pass filters on Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band-pass_filter

) and the article mentions the use of Band-Pass filters as a way to indicate the occurance os a cyclone. I tried looking up more information about this application online but I couldn’t find anything… Does anyone know where I can find more information on this?
