At 3 am, All Counties Cleared of the Tornado Watch1 min read
Just before 3 am, radar shows the line of rain and storms just north of the i-59 corridor, but at this point, all activity is below severe criteria. However, when the line passes over, you can guarantee some heavy rain and loud thunder.
The good news is that the Tornado Watch that was in effect for the northern counties in Central Alabama has been cancelled as the line has weakened considerably and has exited those counties. The even better news is that the threat of severe storms continues to drop as the atmosphere becomes more stable with the slow drop in temperatures.
NWS Birmingham has mentioned that, while a severe storm or two is possible, a new watch is not necessary at the moment.
Unfortunately, there has been major damage in several locations in Mississippi, and portions of North Alabama suffered some damage as well. I’ll have a full report later on in the morning.
For now, get some sleep, but be sure to have your weather source close by to wake you up in case your location goes under a warning.
