A Few Scattered Showers & Storms Out There This Afternoon

2 min read

We have a mix of sun and clouds out there this afternoon, with some scattered showers and storms mixed in as well. The largest cluster of storms was located in the southeastern parts of the area, located over Macon and Bullock counties. Smaller clusters were located over portions of St. Clair, Shelby, and Jefferson counties. A few more isolated showers are out there as well.

At 3pm, temperatures were in the mid 70s to the lower 90s across the area, where rain has already affected some areas. Troy and Eufaula were tied at 92º as the hot spots. Gadsden had rain-cooled air and is the cool spot at 75º. Birmingham was at 88º with some thunder, but no rain as of this roundup.

We’ll continue to have a chance of isolated to scattered showers and storms across the area through the next few hours until the sun sets and the atmosphere begins to cool off. After that, skies will start clearing, but patchy fog may become an issue, especially in areas where rain has fallen. Lows will be in the mid 60s to the lower 70s.

There will be a decent chance of scattered showers and storms on your Monday, especially during the afternoon hours and into the early evening, as a weak front will be stalled out and washes out over the northern parts. Otherwise, prepare for hot and muggy weather, as highs will once again be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s.
