Discussion

The combination of a nearly stationary frontal system and multiples waves of low pressure will bring a soaking rainfall to the Mid-Atlantic region – something that has been quite rare in recent weeks.  The frontal boundary zone will act as a conduit for low pressure systems today and tonight resulting in numerous showers and thunderstorms for the area and some of the rain can be heavy at times.  A second and stronger cool front will slide through the region on Wednesday night paving the way for nice week late in the week and going into the upcoming weekend.
