6-Day forecast for the Huntsville, Alabama metro region

Mainly cloudy in the morning with lingering showers possible then clearing skies for the afternoon, much cooler than yesterday and quite breezy, highs in the mid-to-upper 60’s; N-NW winds increasing to 10-20 mph

Partly cloudy, cold, lows in the lower 40’s

Mainly sunny, warmer, lower 70’s for afternoon highs

Wednesday Night

Mainly clear, chilly, mid 40’s for late night lows

Mainly sunny, warm, upper 70’s

Partly sunny, very warm, near 80 degrees

Partly sunny, quite warm, chance of showers and thunderstorms, lower 80’s

Partly sunny, still quite warm, chance of showers and thunderstorms, near 80 degrees

A strong cold front pushed through the region last night and today will turn out to be much cooler with afternoon temperatures confined to the 60’s for highs.  A stiff breeze will develop as well with N-NW winds likely gusting to 20 mph during the mid-day and afternoon hours.  As is often the case later in the spring season, cold snaps will modify rather quickly, and we’ll experience temperatures climbing back to near the 80-degree mark later in the week.  Looking ahead, a strong storm will form over the central Plains this weekend and its trailing cold front could bring us a round of showers and thunderstorms from later Saturday into Sunday.
