Discussion

The weather pattern continues to be active today as a strong cold front slides eastward into the Mid-Atlantic region and low pressure will form near the east coast along the frontal boundary zone.  As a result, more rain will fall today in the region and there can be a thunderstorm or two mixed into the picture.  After the surface low pressure system pushes away, a large scale upper-level trough will edge overhead on Friday and this system will produce cool and unsettled conditions on Friday afternoon and evening with the likelihood of more shower activity.  It stays cool on Saturday as well and there can be an additional shower or two as it’ll remain somewhat unstable with chilly air in the upper part of the atmosphere. Looking ahead, a much warmer pattern will evolve next week in the eastern states and we’ll likely return to the 70 degree mark by next Tuesday afternoon.
