Discussion
“Zeta” is likely headed for a mid-week landfall in the central Gulf coastal region as a category 1 hurricane and it will make a turn to the northeast after coming inland. The tropical moisture from the remnants of “Zeta” will combine with vigorous upper-level support to result in a significant rain event for the Tennessee Valley and Mid-Atlantic from Thursday into Friday. At the end of the week, colder air will drop southeastward from the Great Lakes and it could actually result in a changeover of the rain to sleet and/or snow across portions of interior and higher elevations of the Northeast US.
