6-Day forecast for the Washington, D.C. metro region

Mainly sunny, warmer, highs in the low-to-mid 70’s; N-NW winds at 5-10 mph

Partly cloudy, chilly, lows in the lower 50’s

Partly sunny, nice, lower 70’s for afternoon highs

Saturday Night

Partly cloudy, mild, mid 50’s for late night lows

Partly sunny, becoming quite warm, near 85 degrees

Partly sunny, still quite warm, lower 80’s

Mainly cloudy, mild, chance of showers, lower 70’s

Partly sunny, breezy, much cooler, mid-to-upper 50’s

The warming trend that began at mid-week will continue today and afternoon temperatures are likely to peak in the low-to-mid 70’s.  It does turn a tad cooler on Saturday, but then a surge in temperatures on Sunday could result in afternoon highs not far from the 85 degree mark.  Looking ahead, we are not quite done yet with the cold shots from Canada and another such air mass featuring below-normal temperatures will arrive here by the middle of next week and stick around into the subsequent weekend.
