Discussion

Thunderstorms lit up the skies last night in parts of the Mid-Atlantic region with vivid displays of lightning and the threat of showers and thunderstorms will continue today, tonight and tomorrow. A stalled-out frontal system will keep it unsettled around here into the weekend and any shower or thunderstorm that develops can produce heavy rainfall amounts in a short period of time….watch for localized flooding. The threat of rain will continue on Sunday, but the showers and storms on that day are likely to be less widespread than what is expected for the next couple of days. Copious amounts of clouds today and tomorrow will help to keep temperatures limited somewhat compared to Thursday – the hottest day of the week – but the humidity will remain at uncomfortably high levels right through the weekend.
