UPDATE (3:11 p.m.): The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Detroit.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for all of southeast Michigan until 11 pm EDT. A moist and unstable airmass will lead to numerous thunderstorms developing this afternoon, continuing through much of tonight as a frontal boundary hangs around. Some of thunderstorms will be severe with the main threat being wind gusts in excess of 60 MPH and hail around 1 inch around diameter. However, an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. Heavy rainfall is also possible which may cause urban and small stream type flooding. The storms look to be strongest in the 3-10 PM window. Average storm motion will be east around 25 mph.

UPDATE (3 p.m.): No rain yet, but sky is getting dark quickly, I hear some lightning and I just saw a lightning bolt above Comerica Park. Forecast for tonight is terrible. It’s supposed to start raining very soon and not stop until at least Thursday morning.

DETROIT — The Yankees and Detroit Tigers’ game on Wednesday night at Comerica Park could be in jeopardy due to a weather forecast of rain, rain and more rain.
