Snow continues to fall across Western North Carolina on Wednesday morning as many schools have closed and motorists encounter slippery roads.
The National Weather Service says a winter weather advisory remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday for Buncombe County, along with Avery, Haywood, Jackson, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Swain and Yancey counties. The NWS says periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
Many school districts in Western North Carolina are closed due to the wintry weather. School walkouts were planned for Wednesday, followed by 17 minutes of silence and/or ceremonies to commemorate the deaths in Parkland, Florida. Whether the walkouts will now be planned for a later date is uncertain.
