Sunday’s High: 46F / Tonight’s Low: 27F – Last updated Sunday, December 8, 2019 at 6:30 PM…
It was a very mild Sunday across the area with highs topping out in the 40s. Clouds have been gradually thickening throughout the day and will continue to do so tonight ahead of a cold front.
If you’re out and about late tonight and early Monday morning, use extra caution as there could be some freezing drizzle that develops. Temps will be in the mid to upper 20s for overnight lows.
We will begin the day Monday with some light freezing drizzle or a wintry mix as a cold front approaches from the west. Winds will increase and more moisture will move in late morning and early afternoon. This is also when the precip changes over from a wintry mix to snow.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in place from late tonight through 6pm Monday for Eau Claire, Chippewa, Dunn, Jackson, Monroe, Clark, Adams and Juneau Counties. This is where a glaze of ice and 1″-3″ of snow will be possible. The rest of the area will see anywhere from a trace to 2″ of snow by Monday evening.
Looking Ahead… The cold front will track east of us for Monday night and Tuesday. Skies will begin to gradually clear and temperatures will be much colder. Highs on Tuesday will only be in the upper single digits to low teens.
We’ll see more cold sunshine for Wednesday with highs in the single digits to near 10F.
Thankfully, our cold snap will be brief. Temperatures will be back into the mid 20s for highs on Thursday with a slight chance of light snow showers.
Temps will warm even more by Friday. Highs will be in the low 30s with a few snow showers or flurries possible.
The slight chance of snow showers will continue into the start of the upcoming weekend with highs in the 20s.
