Weather alert: Today is going to be awesome

It’s official: Fall has arrived in Alabama.

According to the National Weather Service Friday’s weather is going to be just about perfect.

Highs may not make it out of the 70s statewide today. Skies will be mostly sunny and the humidity won’t be sky-high either.

“Fall lovers, rejoice,” forecasters said as they rolled out a high temperature forecast that for once didn’t start with a “9.”

But first, enjoy the coolest morning across the state since the spring.

Temperatures were dipping into the 40s in north and central Alabama and the low 50s in south Alabama early Friday.

That makes it OK to dust off the jackets on the way to work.

The weather service in Huntsville noted that the city hit a milestone on Thursday with its first sub-60 degree temperature in 154 days:

Then high temperatures are forecast to climb, but only into the 70s (and maybe a few high 60s!) in north Alabama. And it’ll also be on the “cool” side in south Alabama: Mobile’s high temperature today won’t even crack 80.
