The calm before the storm! Enjoy some sunshine and a couple of days of warmer temperature before the storm hits this weekend.
Friday will likely be the warmest day of the next seven as highs touch the middle 40s.
**This weekend a significant winter storm is still expected**
Most of the wintry weather will start by sunset Saturday, lasting through early Monday, possibly even longer.
Significant snow and sleet accumulations are expected for many, so plan for major impacts on roads!
Heavy wet snow may mean widespread power outages across the mountains.
Duke Energy crews have already begun preparing for the worst. They were checking supplies and equipment, and, if needed, they are ready to call in crews from out-of-state.
Before storms make their way into the area, local roads departments and the NCDOT are quick to pretreat the roads in hopes of preventing many problems. Once the flurries start, crews will begin their process of clearing and keeping the main roadways clear for those who absolutely cannot stay inside.
