Thunderstorms, gusty wind and hail possible

The mountains and northern Maine saw a few showers and rumbles of thunder first thing Saturday morning, but more storms are expected to fire up through the afternoon. Some storms could be on the strong side.

Any storm could produce gusty winds and downpours. The biggest threat is for strong or severe storms to bring damaging winds and hail, so be prepared and keep an eye to the sky today. Remember, when thunder roars go indoors!

These storms will start firing up again towards the mountains around midday and will travel southeastward towards the coast this afternoon.

By 5-7 PM, most of this activity will have wound down and only lingering showers will remain. This is all ahead of a cold front that will usher in cooler and drier (less humid) air for Sunday.

Stay tuned for updates as we track these storms through the day.
