ROCKFORD (WREX) — Our break from the warmer air and higher humidity will be short-lived. Muggy air will come back by the end of the weekend. A little rain may fall during the transition.
We will get another day of mild and dry weather first. Saturday’s weather keeps the humidity low for another day in a row. We will get to see a lot of sunshine, and breezy southwest winds. Wind gusts may only reach 20 mph for the start of the weekend, rather than the windy weather felt Friday. Temperatures will be in the 70’s again, but highs will get close to 80 degrees Saturday afternoon.
A warm front moves in Saturday night and early Sunday morning. This front should kick up a few showers and storms early Sunday. Severe weather is not likely with these storms, but there is a slight risk for torrential rainfall. Considering how much rain we picked up recently, stay alert for any flash flood risks. Any scattered showers and storms ahead of the warm front will exit around sunrise Sunday.
The remainder of Sunday will be warmer and dry. Highs should sneak into the low 80’s. The humidity will be on the rise, and by the end of Sunday conditions will feel muggy again.
The warmer and muggy weather will last throughout much of next week. Thankfully, we’ll get a long break from any stormy weather patterns. Monday through Wednesday next week will be dry and sunny. Those three days look to be in the low 80’s. Thursday has a chance for showers and storms as a cold front moves in. Temperatures will start to cool off on Thursday with the arrival of the cold front. A steady cooling trend looks to take us into next week, where the low 70’s may be possible by the end of next week.
