Portland metro Sunday weather: Clear and calm, high 50; more rain during work week

0

Saturday was wet all day. But the rain was not (yet) the start of a trend in the Portland metro area.

Sunday offers only a 20 percent chance of precipitation. Temperatures should make it up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit, with the low dropping to about 40 overnight. Expect the day to be crisp, calm and pleasant.

Monday’s projected high is 48 degrees, and again is likely to be dry. Then rain pushes back into the forecast on Tuesday and might keep coming down the rest of the week. The highs will mostly stay in the 50s and the lows will remain above freezing.

The expected rain this week might get in the way of outdoor activities, but it’s welcome nonetheless. The recent rainfall just barely pushed Portland past the total for 1985, which the National Weather Service points out “is the driest year on record for the Portland airport.”
