9:00 AM THURSDAY UPDATE:

Flash flooding and strong storms likely across the area through tonight.  A Flash Flood Watch has been issued for much of the area for this afternoon and this evening.

An approaching cold front is triggering numerous thunderstorms.  Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and this evening.

STORM TRACKER: More showers, storms expected throughout day Thursday

Storms that develop after noon will be capable of producing heavy amounts of rain, 40+ mph wind gusts and large hail.  Repeated rounds of heavy rain will cause flash flooding in already rain soaked areas.  Some areas will see more than two inches of rain through the day Thursday.

STORY: Thousands without power; heavy rain, flooding continue to hit area

We’re following flooding and damage as we track storms expected throughout the day — for Channel 11 News at Noon.

UPDATE: A flood advisory is in effect for parts of Allegheny, Westmoreland, Indiana and Armstrong counties Thursday morning as heavy rain moves through the area.


A flash flood watch has been issued for much of the area for Thursday afternoon and evening.

An approaching cold front will trigger several rounds of showers and thunderstorms Thursday, with the most numerous storms and heaviest rain coming during the afternoon and evening.




Storms that develop after noon will be capable of producing heavy amounts of rain, wind gusts of more than 40 mph and large hail.
