CLEVELAND, Ohio — The National Weather Service in Cleveland has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Cuyahoga, southwestern Lake, northern Lorain, northeastern Medina and northern Summit counties until 8:15 p.m. Friday.
NWS has also issued a special marine warning in effect until 8 p.m. for Lake Erie’s nearshore and open waters from Reno Beach near Toledo to Geneva-on-the-lake in Ashtabula County. Locations the could be affected include Cleveland, Lorain Harbor, Huron, Put-In-Bay, Avon Point, Western Vermilion, Kelleys Island, Sandusky Bay, Willowick and Vermilion.
Under the severe thunderstorm warning, winds may gust to 70 mph and penny-sized hail is possible, NWS said.
Expect damage to trees, mobile homes, roofs and outbuildings.
Locations that could be affected include Cleveland, Lorain, Elyria, Willowick, Vermilion, Parma, Lakewood, Euclid, Cleveland Heights, Strongsville, Brunswick, Westlake, North Royalton, North Ridgeville, Solon, Avon Lake, Willoughby, Hudson, Twinsburg and Eastlake.
Another severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7:45 p.m. for Erie and northern Lorain counties.
