More thunderstorms, hail likely Sunday afternoon and evening

Denverites can expect to see more heavy rain and even some small hail on Sunday afternoon, bringing a likely welcome reprieve from the high temperatures.

The weather forecast calls for mostly sunny skies with a high of 94 degrees and a 50 percent of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The evening is expected to bring more rain and thunderstorms with a low of 65 degrees, forecasters predicted. Minor street flooding could occur, according to the weather service.

The day will likely bring mostly light and variable winds, though some brief strong wind gusts are expected.

The forecast later in the week calls for more rain and thunderstorms and temperatures in the upper 90 degrees.

Northeast and north central Colorado’s hazardous weather outlook cautions of stronger storms bringing heavy rain, lightning and wind gusts up to 40 mph on Sunday.
