A cold front is on the way that could bring a wintry mix to far North Georgia Friday and rain to metro Atlanta through early next week, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The best chance for any snow/rain mix is between midnight and 5 a.m. Friday, Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
The “highest elevations may have a slight bit of accumulation, but the rest of us, nothing at all,” she said.

Another shot of cold air is expected to move in early Sunday and lead to a snow and sleet mix in Habersham County.
Only rain is expected in metro Atlanta, where there is a chance of precipitation through next Monday, Channel 2 reported.
In the meantime, only light showers are in the forecast for Thursday and rain chances remain low through Saturday in metro Atlanta.
Temps started 11 degrees higher this morning than they were Wednesday.
“A cold front will reverse this trend when it arrives later today,” Channel 2 meteorologist Karen Minton said.
Currently, it’s 49 degrees in Atlanta. The forecast high is 57 degrees, Channel 2 reported.
