LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — CCSD Board of Trustees voted 5 to 2 to have students make up the snow day on April 22 instead of March 22 as proposed by Superintendent Jara.
On Feb. 22, schools were canceled and by law, students have to make up the day.
However, the board did not feel there was enough time for March 22nd date, and wanted either April 22 or May during graduation and after Memorial Day.
April 22, however, is still problematic for support staff because it wasn’t listed as a contingency and support staff was already scheduled to work and the only days for that are after Memorial Day. Which means staff would have to return to school once it’s already out.
Graduation is also problematic because after graduation means seniors probably wouldn’t come back.
After the vote passed, Superintendent Jara says they will figure out a way to make it work for support staff.
